Troubleshoot the extension
Extension quiet or missing? These quick checks usually sort it out.
Most extension hiccups come down to a site setting, a sign-in, or sound permissions. Start with the section that matches what you’re seeing.
Nothing Appears on the Page
- Check that the site is included under Add to sites
- Refresh the page after you change site permissions
- Make sure you’re signed in to the same NameShouts account you use on the web
Audio Won’t Play
- Check that Chrome is allowed to play sound in that tab
- Try Snail mode — if that works, the regular file may still be loading
- Open the same name on nameshouts.com. If it plays there, the issue is with the extension or the site
The Wrong Name or Language Appears
- Change the name source to the list that has the right combo name or recording
- If the page shows a nickname or display name, search the legal or preferred name in the web app and save it to a list
Still Stuck?
